I had an earlier version that required 2 ethernet cables which I had installed during home construction. That unit died, I suspect. I went back to the web to replace it and found this unit that uses 1 ethernet cable. It has been working flawlessly for over a year until just recently. After troubleshooting it I found it was the power supply that died. I happened to have had another power supply with the same rating. I plugged it in and its working fine again. I’m wondering it the power supply of the 2 ethernet cable unit died and I replaced the unit for the wrong reason. My TV setup consists of a large screen in the family room (connected to a cable box) and a 30″ in the kitchen. Whatever is on the big TV shows on the kitchen TV. This comes in handy when viewers are in both the kitchen and in the family room are watching the same broadcast. Another advantage is the kitchen TV can be on without the family room TV being on but you have to use the cable box remote (used with the big screen TV) to change channels. I’m about to duplicate this setup for my balcony TV and get rid of a remote cable box that I rent.

I ordered the product on 16th of june and was delivered the 21th of june in France. I try it with a switch, and it work perfectly. The quality of the picture and sound are no difference between using the extender or straight from an HDMI cable.

I received my J-Tech Digital Premium Quality HDMI to HDMI + Audio Extractor yesterday to use with my new Apple TV4. I am delighted with the results. I am getting excellent picture and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. At first I thought there was a problem because the first TV show I watched with it only gave me Pro-Logic II sound. However, I have discovered that it was the program not the equipment because upon previewing a few movies I got excellent DD5.1 sound. So, anyone considering purchasing an Apple TV4 don’t be put off because off its lack of an optical digital sound output. This device solves that problem very nicely.

I use a SONOS Playbar, and for this reason I need all audio to be DD5.1(Dolby Digital 5.1).
This Jtech HDMI audio extractor tells the PS4 it can do DTS-HD and DD5.1, and DTS is better, so the PS4 defaults to that, with no choice to me, the user.
This has made the HDMI audio extractor worthless, unless there is a way to change the EDID to report that it can only do DD5.1
