How To Guide: JTD18G-H5CH | JTD-322 – 4K 60HZ HDMI Audio Extractor

The JTD18G-H5CH (JTD-322) allows users to extract digital HDMI audio signals from an HDMI compliant source to L/R analog out 2CH or digital audio 2CH / 5CH output. The unit supports 4k video resolution at 60Hz, HDR10, and is HDCP 2.2 compliant (Users must use an HDMI 2.0 certified cable to achieve these features)
*Note: Simultaneous audio from L/R Out, Optical Out and HDMI can only be achieved if the source audio signal is set to PCM / Stereo

**Note: This unit does not support ARC function, and will not extract audio if using TV as a source

Setup:

  1. Connect the source device (Blu-ray, cable box etc.) in to the HDMI input of the extractor. The “Link” LED will illuminate indicating that an HDMI input signal has been detected
  2. Connect the display to the HDMI output of the extractor
  3. Connect the 5V power adapter to the extractor. The “Power” LED will illuminate indicating that the extractor is receiving power
  4. Connect the audio device to the “L/R” output or “Optical” output port of the audio extractor
  5. If using the “L/R Out” port, please verify that the EDID switch on the unit is set to “2CH“. Also verify that the audio format from the source is PCM / Stereo
  6. If using the “Optical Out” port, the EDID switch can be set to either “2CH” or “5CH” depending on audio device’s supported audio formats

Troubleshooting Steps:

No Video:
  1. Check to see if the “Link” light on the extractor is illuminated. If not, make sure that the HDMI cables are tested to be functional
  2. Ensure that the source device is outputting a compatible resolution and refresh rate
  3. The source and the display would need to be HDCP compliant
No Audio:
  1. Ensure that the source device is outputting either Stereo or standard Dolby 5.1 audio format, not Dolby Digital Plus
  2. If the incoming signal is Stereo, all outputs (RCA, SPDIF, and HDMI) will pass sound through
  3. If the incoming signal is Dolby 5.1, only Optical and HDMI output ports will pass sound through
  4. Since this unit does not support ARC, a source device has to be plugged in to the HDMI In port. If a TV is being used as a source via ARC, the unit will not function and pass any audio
